About MACHS PDF Print E-mail

The purpose of MACHS is: To glorify God by facilitating Christian home education.

Formed in 1983, Manitoba Association of Christian Home Schools is a non-profit, volunteer provincial organization that seeks to connect, support and equip all those who are involved in Christian Home Education in the Province of Manitoba.

MACHS also seeks to ensure representation of, and advocacy for home education rights to government and education agencies. We produce resources such as the MACHS Handbook (available free with membership). We answer numerous calls from those interested in home education or looking for detailed information. We organize conferences, seminars and special events. We provide resources for loan in the Resource Library. Your MACHS membership supports all these activities and more. By becoming a member you are helping support this ministry.

MACHS Objectives:

  • To promote the integration of a Biblical world view in home education: "Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it" Psalms 127:1a. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge" Proverbs 1:7.
  • Ensure representation of, and advocacy for home education rights to government and education agencies: Home education rights and freedoms must be respectfully protected and defended.
  • Develop home education leadership to provide practical support for home education leaders and families: Equipped leaders can much more effectively support the growing number of home schooling families.
  • Organize a provincial conference for home education families: The annual conference provides encouragement and opportunity to learn, share and shop.
  • Develop and maintain lines of communication with homeschool families: volumes of misinformation necessitate the flow of current and accurate information.
  • Develop and maintain supportive affiliations: There is great benefit to networking with the growing number of resourceful organizations which serve home educators.

How Are We Funded?

As we are registered as a non-profit organization, our only sources of funding are the annual membership fees, donations from interested individuals, an annual spring conference, and occasional fund raising activities. As a non-profit organization, we are free to lobby the government to protect homeschool freedoms.

Membership dues are $30.00 annually. We are always happy to respond to first-time inquiries and new home educators by sending a complimentary copy of "The TIMES at Home", our newsletter.

What We Believe

  • We believe the Bible to be inspired, the only infallible, inerrant, authoritative Word of God.
  • We believe in the deity of Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His resurrection from the dead, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
  • We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature; and that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God's grace and through faith we are saved.
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Christ.
  • We do not promote or encourage denominational distinctives to be a part of events. The purpose of the organization is not evangelism and we recognize that to be the responsibility of the individual.
